Hello yogis!
I hope this message finds you well and eager to get on your mat, despite the dreary weather we are forecasted to have this week (that is if you are based in Tennessee). We will create some heat and sunshine with our breath and movement!
I asked, and the results were painstakingly close, but this week’s pop-up will be…. SLOWBURN. This practice was developed to help alleviate back pain as well as to integrate a deep inward focus. A slower paced practice with simple flows and longer holding postures make it a great starting point for those new to yoga and looking to build a foundation while discovering how their body moves with their breath. Students are encouraged to close their eyes when practicing and really focus on the breath as well as the energy moving from within.
Try it out, this Wednesday May 20th at 6PM CST.
CLASS SCHEDULE
Sunday 10AM CST 75 Minute Vinyasa
All of these classes will be linked in my Instagram profile if that is easier for you to access.
DONATION BASED CLASSES
I’ve been thinking long and hard about how I want to provide yoga during this very weird season we are going through and have been doing a lot of different trials regarding this. The nature of the way I teach puts a lot of trust into my students. When I first started teaching, it was very hard for me to ‘let go of the hand’ for a lack of a better metaphor, and get out of the way so students could do their own thing. I always felt like I needed to say things, or teach an extra round, or maybe not do as much ‘flow on your own’. One day I had a “come to Jesus” meeting with myself and realized I’m being an overprotective mother and not trusting that my students know what to do. Even if they ARE uncomfortable flowing on their own and figuring it out, that’s part of the process. I was in the way. Once I was able to recognize this, and get out of the way, a new level of freedom in my classes came and new light appeared, breakthroughs were happening around me, it was MAGICAL.
I tell you this, because it came up to me in my practice that I was kind of doing the same thing with the whole donation and password system. I want everybody to have yoga in this time, especially those that may not be in the best financial situation, because they probably need it the most, as I know first hand how stressful this time can be. As such, all classes will be open and I am going to be putting my trust in the universe that those that can give, will. I’m a little disappointed with myself for not coming to this realization sooner as all of you have been so generous and I am deeply, deeply thankful for that.
So, with that, please invite as many friends as you want! Let’s ignite our sweet virtual space up with a burning fire and love of life.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions, comments, feedback or suggestions. I would love to chat with you!
With love and light,
Ashley
P.S. If you are excited to flow this week, maybe send this e-mail to one or two of your friends. Because then they might tell one or two of their friends and so on and so forth and eventually we have this amazing thing called COMMUNITY. So keep the flow going, pass Current on!
